Notice of Annual Parish Meeting

All members of the public are welcome to attend

I hereby give notice that by order of the Parish Council in pursuance of Schedule 12 Paragraph 14(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 the 2024 Annual Parish Meeting will be held in the North Somercotes Village Hall on Wednesday 10th April 2024 from 6.30pm where the following will be discussed:
   

AGENDA   

1. Welcome from Chair of the Meeting – Mr Steve Brooks, and introduction of those parishioners who may be present who serve as Parish Councillors (Stuart Arundel, Neil Drewery, John Kennedy, Roger Maidens, Danny McNally (also Lincs County Councillor and East Lindsey District Councillor), Trisha Newman, Lynda Plater, Shaun Smalley, David Wallis, Paul Walmsley) plus Sheila Pearce (Parish Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer) and Paul Rickett – District Councillor

2. To receive the previous Minutes from the meeting held on Wednesday 5th April 2023 and for those members of the Parish present to approve these as a true record of that meeting  

3. Chairman – brief summary of council activities over the last year 

a. Refurbishment of Garden of Remembrance, bulb planting, removal of some trees to prevent loss of grave spaces, repairs to the Chapel Roofs plus repointing of stonework, plating free hedging

b. Repair to St Mary’s Church redundant section Wall

c. Village oil scheme – last order saved c4p per litre and was over 40,000 litres

d. Begun refurbishment of the public toilets and installation of new CCTV

e. Refurbishment of bench at Axe and Cleaver crossroads plus new litter bins and planters

f. Supplemented the grant to replace the lights at the Pavilion with LEDs and purchase of various items for the Youth Club including disco light, games, and craft materials

g. Mapping of the cemetery grave spaces to fulfil statutory requirements and identify any unused plots, digitising cemetery records

h. Secured and planted c.600 free trees/hedging saplings in the Cemetery and playing field

i. Contributed to the works required to reestablish a Post Office in the village

j. continued to seek an update on the status of the English Coastal Path Proposals on PROW FP28

k. installed a Jubilee bench at the cemetery with funding assistance from ELDC/Cllr McNally

l. supporting the ‘no pylons’ objective of having the pylons put out to sea rather than overland

m. grant to enable Swimming Pool Changing Room Roof to be replaced, support – with District Cllrs – to replace NS United Football Club goals, further support to Youth Club with volunteer training

n. plans to fund and display lamp post poppies and knitted/crocheted poppies for 2024 Remembrance, donations to help purchase these are welcome

6. Comments/questions to the Parish Council from Parishioners on village issues and services

NOTE

All government electors registered for the parish and in attendance are members of the  Parish Meeting.  All members of the public are welcome to attend and speak on any matter of local interest, HOWEVER VOTING ON ANY ITEM MAY ONLY BE DONE BY NORTH SOMERCOTES ELECTORS. This is not a Parish Council Meeting, but it is Chaired by the Chairman of the Parish Council in accordance with legal requirements.  Councillors attend Parish Meetings as members of the public
